Kristy Barnhart

Kristin “Kristy” Barnhart is a prominent Atlanta family law attorney whose practice is devoted exclusively to divorce and domestic relations matters throughout the greater Atlanta area. She is known for providing strategic, personalized representation in both straightforward and highly complex family law disputes, combining strong advocacy with a compassionate and client-focused approach.

Kristy represents clients in a wide range of family law matters, including simple and complex divorce actions, high-net-worth divorce, asset division, child custody, child support, alimony, legitimation and paternity actions, modifications of prior orders, contempt proceedings, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. She is also trained as a Guardian ad Litem and has significant experience litigating all aspects of complex domestic cases. From the outset of each matter, Kristy works closely with clients to develop strategies tailored to their goals, whether through negotiated settlement or trial.

Before founding Barnhart Family Law in 2023, Kristy spent more than a decade practicing at a premier boutique family law firm in Atlanta, where she developed extensive experience representing clients across a broad spectrum of family law matters. Her practice is built around responsiveness, individualized attention, and helping clients feel informed and empowered as they move through significant life transitions.

Kristy has earned strong recognition within the legal community for her work in family law. She was named a Georgia Super Lawyer from 2023 through 2026 and a Rising Star from 2017 through 2023. She was also recognized as a Legal Elite attorney by Georgia Trend magazine in 2022.

In addition to her practice, Kristy is actively involved in professional and community organizations. She is the Immediate Past Chair of the Women in the Profession section of the Atlanta Bar Association and is also involved in the association’s Family Law and Solo/Small Firm sections. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers and currently serves on the board of its charitable foundation.
